Tesco shoppers are being urged to prepare themselves for a major change to the supermarket giant's popular Clubcard scheme. The business announced earlier in the year that the Tesco Clubcard app, allowing customers to manage their points and coupons by scanning a digital version of their Clubcard in-store, would be closing down on April 18.
Customers will have to download a brand new app following that date, which will display all Clubcard prices and shopping discounts, reports The Mirror. With the change coming into effect in around a week, customers are now being told to download the new app.
More than 20 million people in the UK have a Tesco Clubcard, which entitles them to obtain reduced prices on designated products and earn points, which they can later redeem as vouchers for in-store purchases. Additionally, Tesco customers can utilise their accumulated points to receive discounts when shopping with one of Tesco's Rewards Partners.

Those who choose not to download the new app can still access their points through their online account or by using their physical Clubcards. However, customers are advised to download the new app now to avoid being caught out later.
The revamped product will see shoppers being able to pay, view their points balance, spend Clubcard vouchers, order deliveries and check stock in stores. They will still have access to their previous points, coupons and vouchers.
The new app is currently available on both Android and Apple phones for free. The new app will also bring in the functionality and features of the Pay+ app that was shut down by the supermarket giant on February 27 this year.
The new app is just one of several Clubcard changes announced in recent months. Presently, motorists receive one point for every £2 spent on fuel, but after June 14, they will only earn one point for every two litres of fuel purchased.
