Tesco is shaking up its Clubcard scheme with up to a third off prices - and deals on healthy and eco-friendly products. The supermarket is about to launch its Better Baskets Clubcard deals, which will give money off 200 healthy food and products with re-usable or recyclable packets.
This includes high-fibre food, alcohol-free drinks, vegan food and low-calorie treats. This month, for example, Clubcard members get up to a third off Tesco's meat & veg range of burgers, sausages, kebabs, mince, meatballs and goujons.
These contain about 70% beef and 30% vegetables, and are marketed as a healthier option to 100% beef mince burgers. People using the Clubcard scheme get 33% off Tesco's meat & veg beef burgers, which cost £1.50 normally or £1 to Clubcard users.
Clubcard users also get 25% off the supermarket's meat and veg lamb burger, down from £2 to £1.50, according to the Mirror. Low-alcohol beer and spirits are also part of the deal.
Tanqueray alcohol-free spirit, which is a bit like gin, is on sale for £14 rather than £16, while Tesco shoppers can pick up a 12-pack of 330ml bottles of Heineken 0% lager for £7 using a Clubcard, a saving of 30% on the normal price of £11. Peroni fans can buy 0% Nastro Azzuro lager at £8 for 12 330ml bottles, a saving of 27%. Low-alcohol BrewDog Punk AF beer is being sold at £4 for four 330ml cans, rather than the usual price of £4.50.
Tesco is also pushing items with reduced or recycled packaging as part of the Clubcard deal, with up to 40% off some products. For example, Neat antibacterial surface cleanser is on sale for £5, down from £8. Ariel All-In-1 Pods, offering 15 washes, are being sold for £3.50 rather than £4.
However, the deals will not last forever. Some run out on May 29 and others end on June 16. Tesco stores will have Better Baskets logos next to items in the special offer.
A Tesco spokesperson said: "To help make better choices more accessible for everyone, Tesco this month launches its Better Baskets range. Created to help customers feel better about the food they buy, the meals they make and the packaging their shopping comes in, in a way that is simple and affordable."
