Tesco Clubcard members issued one-week warning over major points change

Tesco shoppers are being urged to cash in on any Clubcard vouchers they have before a major change cuts their value next week.

The UK's largest supermarket's loyalty scheme, which is said to boast around 20 million members, currently allows shoppers to triple the amount their vouchers are worth. However, that is set to decrease very soon.

Starting from Wednesday, June 14, shoppers will find that their vouchers are only worth twice their amount when cashed in with one of the scheme's 100+ 'rewards' partners.

It means that shoppers have just until 11:59pm on Tuesday, June 13, to triple their vouchers worth when redeeming them with one of its partners, such as Disney+, Legoland, Pizza Express and much more.

To put it into perspective, if you currently have 500 points, these are usually worth £5 when you spend them online or in stores. However, they can be worth £15 when you swap them for codes to spend with a reward partner before the deadline.

After the deadline, they will only be worth just £10 - a downgrade from what shoppers are currently receiving.

The supermarket chain announced the major change to its Clubcard points back in March this year, as it said that the move "will allow it to maintain a wide range of Clubcard rewards."

With the June 14 deadline looming for millions of members, it might be worth planning another big shop to collect a large number of points that can be converted into vouchers straight away.

You can triple the value of your points by logging into the Tesco Clubcard and Grocery app. From there, you can convert your points into vouchers under the 'My Points' section.

Once your points have been converted, you browse a list of reward partners and choose the reward you want. Once you have selected a rewards partner, your code will appear in the 'My Rewards' section of the app.

Alternatively, this can be done online via the Clubcard website, where you can first check the amount of points you have before converting them into vouchers. From there, you can select 'Spend Vouchers' and, once a partner has been selected, a code will be sent to your registered email address.

The major change to Clubcard points won't just be affecting your shopping, as it is also set to impact drivers who fill up at one of the supermarket's forecourts.

Currently, drivers can collect one Clubcard point for every £2 they spend on fuel. However, this will decrease to just one point for every 2 litres of fuel from Wednesday, June 14.
