Tesco and Sainsbury’s urge Burnham to make food security a priority after farmers warn of shortages

Major food industry players including Tesco and Danone have joined a broad coalition of charities to demand Andy Burnham makes food security a national priority alongside energy and defence.

The letter, also signed by supermarkets Sainsbury’s, Aldi, Waitrose, and Co-op, alongside charities like Barnardo’s, Amnesty International UK, and WWF-UK, plus health campaigners, investment companies, and farming organisations, warns that the next "food shock" is "not a question of if, but when".
