Families across the country have shared their frustration after turkeys they bought from Tesco and Sainsbury's appeared to be 'rotten'.
One highlight of the festive season is Christmas dinner - and the turkey is often the main event. But several customers took to Twitter to criticise their supermarket turkey, while one shopper claimed the meat made her partner ill.
Customers alleged that upon unwrapping their turkeys ahead of the big day, they discovered the festive birds were pungent.

According to our sister site WalesOnline, one user, @EllenAlsop tweeted: "Bought a Turkey less than 5 hours ago from @sainsburys opened it to give a soak overnight and it absolutely stinks. I’m so gutted. A complete waste thanks @sainsburys."
While @zoebrewer4 also contacted Sainsbury's on Twitter stating: "@sainsburys Please get back to me asap about this! £40 for a rotten turkey." She included a photo of a rather grey-looking turkey.
@SophieHou6 contacted Tesco with a similar complaint: "@Tesco no Turkey on Christmas Day thanks to opening ours and it being so rotten it caused my other half to throw up. That’s £40 of bird gone straight in the bin and no meat for Christmas dinner. Who do we send this rotten bird to, to get a refund please?"
A Tesco spokesperson said: “We’re really sorry to hear about this. We know that turkey is an important part of Christmas for many of our customers and we take great care when selecting and preparing our turkeys. We would ask Ms Hou to return the product to one of our stores so we can investigate further, and issue a full refund.”
This year has also seen a rise in the number of people posting images from previous years and acting as if they are from this year. Several users on Twitter have used the same image of a turkey, each claiming to be left eating beans on toast on Christmas Day.
Sainsbury's has been contacted for comment by WalesOnline.
