Tesco and Lidl shoppers obsessed with 16p own-brand food they could eat every day

Supermarket giants Tesco and Lidl have blown shoppers away with 16p and 13p own-brand food which people love. The supermarkets have been praised by shoppers for offering such a tasty meal for just pennies.

Posting on the Scrimping on a Budget Facebook page, Janine ODoherty said: "Taste test… Spaghetti Hoops, £1 from Tesco and 16p from Lidl… Lidl Hoops are the winner! The sauce is thicker, hoops are nice and firm, my teenage experts were as surprised as me! A saving of 84p per tin."

Shoppers rushed to praise the 16p Lidl spaghetti hoops, with many saying they prefer them to Heinz. Other shoppers went to suggest Tesco's own-brand version, which is even cheaper at 13p a tin.

Susan Whitehouse said: "I was very surprised at the quality and taste of the own brands, even better when they save money." Jayne Spiby advised: "You can get hoops from Tesco for like 13p the cheapest range."

Angela Hubbard said: "Always have Lidl spaghetti loops they are really good value for money I just add a little squirt of tomato sauce to taste the beans are really good as well." Heather Grant said: "The lidl 'wigley' tinned spaghetti is lovely and the aldi ravioli in a tin."

Jill Tinklersaid: "I buy tescos value range hoops, they are 13p a tin!! Taste good to me, at the end of the day it’s a tin of mass produced pasta and sugary sauce but hits the spot sometimes. Why pay vast amount for the branded one? I for one can’t afford the branded ones and refuse to pay that amount for them.."

Claire Williams joked: "I bought these the other day as I use Lidl nappies for my son and didn't want to go to 2 places. My kids all had clean plates , so I picked some more up this week, as soon as my 7 year old saw the can on the side whilst I was getting their tea ready, she said wrinkling up her face eeurh what's this spaghetti?! When I told her it was the same one she'd eaten all up the week before and asked if there was anymore, her face was a picture."

Janine O'Doherty exclaimed: "I’m surprised at how nice these were as well!" Ken Andrews wrote: "Yes Lidl . Tesco ect are nice & better value."
