As we head into the first week of 2023, many of us might be thinking about popping to the shops to restock our fridge and freezer following the Christmas celebrations.
However, with New Year's Day falling on a Sunday this year, it means that today is observed as a bank holiday, meaning that some major supermarkets might not be open as normal.
Many supermarkets and retailers tend to operate at reduced hours on the New Year's Day bank holiday in a bid to give staff a well deserved rest over the festive period, with some even closing altogether in previous years.
