Terry McLaurin has been Washington’s most popular player since he stepped on the field in Week 1 against the Philadelphia Eagles during his 2019 rookie season.
We know McLaurin’s story: He’s caught passes from 12 different quarterbacks in his career and has had six different opening-day quarterbacks in six seasons. Through it all, McLaurin has always produced despite the chaos around him, whether it’s the carousel of quarterbacks, multiple offensive coordinators, head coaches, name changes, or the drama surrounding the former owner.
It appears that McLaurin has finally found his quarterback. Rookie Jayden Daniels has led the Commanders to a 3-1 start after Sunday’s 42-14 win over the Arizona Cardinals. In a span of six days, Washington won two road games, with the second one coming on a short week across the country.
McLaurin, the ultimate team guy, can’t hide his excitement.

Finally, after the game, McLaurin spoke with reporters in the locker room and explained how good Washington’s start feels.
“It’s fun, it’s not just me, honestly, anybody could touch the ball,” McLaurin said. “We got so many guys who have the ability to touch the ball and make big plays. (RB Jeremy McNichols) J-Mac, stepping in for Austin (Ekeler) who we missed this week. He scores twice. B-Rob (Brian Robinson Jr.) doing a great job, Noah (Brown), Luke (McCaffrey) making a big grab over the middle, OZ (Olamide Zaccheaus). I mean, that’s when you know you have a fun offense when you got multiple weapons that the defense has to account for.”
In his customary team-first mentality, McLaurin discussed what the start means to him and his teammates.
“Yeah, man, I’m a big cheerleader out there,” he said. “I’m happy for myself, sure, but I’m happy for our guys. I’m happy for these guys who put in so much work in the offseason. Have come from all around the league to be a Commander. And for the guys that have been here so long we haven’t quite had this feeling.”

McLaurin knows it’s early. Everyone understands it’s early. But there are genuine reasons for players and fans to believe good things are ahead for the Commanders.
