Terrifying moment huge 20ft shark swims close to boat as man mumbles 'holy s**t'

Terrifying footage has captured the moment a huge 20ft shark swims towards a boat as a man screams "holy s**t".

The footage, which has gone viral on social media, shows the spine-chilling moment the sea starts to ripple as the shark edges it way towards the petrified man and his boat.

In the chilling video, the sea is seen rippling faster and faster as the suspense builds when the cameraman pans down on the dramatic moment - as the shark comes nearer the boat.

As the humongous shark swims right next to the boat, the cameraman pans down and soon realises what was causing the huge ripples - a gigantic shark.

Like something out of a horror movie, the video is captioned "holy s**t" as the footage, which was posted by ' The Daily Jaws ', shows the 20-foot long shark swimming past the boat.

The Daily Jaws account Twitter account, which describes itself as the 'number one Jaws fan account', estimated the shark was a '20-footer'.

And the eagle-eyed Jaws fans on social media were quick to recognise the reference as dozens of Twitter users responded the shark is actually '25 foot' - which is a hugely recognisable line from the iconic film Jaws.

As in the famous film, the character of Quint tells Matt Hooper, to 'Shut off that engine'.

Matt says the shark is a '20 footer,' as Quint responds: "25! And three tonnes of him!"

Users were quick to have to reply with their own movie references as one wrote: "They're gonna need a bigger boat."

The infamous catchphrase became so popular it was used anytime something went wrong, according to Carol Gottlieb, who helped redraft the script of the 1975 film.

She told The Hollywood Reporter : “[Richard] Zanuck and [David] Brown were very stingy producers, so everyone kept telling them, ‘You’re gonna need a bigger boat.’

"It became a catchphrase for anytime anything went wrong — if lunch was late or the swells were rocking the camera, someone would say, ‘You’re gonna need a bigger boat'."
