The terrifying moment a pilot fights to land a plane at a British airport during high winds has been caught on camera.
An easyJet passenger plane battled the intense crosswinds as it came to land at Bristol Airport yesterday amid Storm Claudio's gales.
Footage captured by MrAviationGuy shows the easyJet Airbus A321neo aircraft wobble in the air as it descended toward the runway after arriving from Faro, Portugal.
The nose of the propeller plane moved to the left in the tumultuous wind, meaning it was at the wrong angle by the time it approached the runway.
The aircraft even started to spin as it continued to tilt on its left side.
Miraculously, expert pilots managed to land it safely.
The heartstopping moment came as storms wreaked havoc across the UK.
In Brighton, part of the West Pier collapsed into the sea as a result of the choppy waves, while cars became entombed by fallen trees.
It's led to numerous flood alerts being placed up and down the country with yellow thunderstorm warnings in place later this afternoon.
Flooding of a few homes and businesses is possible with residents urged to remain vigilant.
Some locations may be hit with 30-40 mm of rain in a few hours, while thunderstorms will be mostly limited to coastal districts where lightning and hail may cause additional hazards.
Forecasters have also warned Brits should be prepared to "get their ice scrapers out" and prepare for frost to cover this week.
Temperatures are due to drop below freezing in many rural parts of the north tonight before plummeting further to -2C tomorrow.
Southern areas will need to brace for chilly nights in the low single figures, as a November chill finally arrives following an unseasonably warm spell.
Warning motorists of the freezing temperatures ahead, a tweet from the Met Office said: "Some of us may need our ice scrapers in the next few days as temperatures dip close to freezing".
Met Office Chief Meteorologist Neil Armstrong said: “The biggest impacts from Storm Claudio are expected in northern France, which is why is has been named as a system by Météo-France.
"What it means for us in the UK is for some high winds to be possible along much of the southern coast of England.
“Some isolated and especially exposed coastal areas could see gusts in excess of 70mph, while much of the warning area will see gusts of between 50 and 60mph.”
