Residents on a street fled their homes in fear after a major house fire resulted in an explosion.
Emergency services rushed to the scene after the blaze broke out. Crews from the fire and rescue service quickly managed to get the flames under control.
Humberside Police confirmed that there were no reports of anyone being injured at the Hull property, although one resident near to the home said that she was taking herself to A&E after inhaling smoke while running back inside to rescue her pets, Hull Live reports.
Ellie Bell, 23, said that she could barely see for the thick black smoke pouring out onto the street, and rushed to grab her dogs and cats.
Ellie then ran back inside to save her pet gerbils, hurling them out of a window into her garden, moments before an explosion. The gerbils survived the ordeal.
It's understood nobody was in the house at the time of the fire. Video taken by onlookers shows the moment an explosion could be heard as fire and smoke billow from the terrace.
Ellie told Hull Live she had seen smoke from her bedroom window and fire outside before "running for her life", then going back to rescue her gerbils. Fire investigators have since checked her home and told her she was lucky to escape the damage.
Fire fighters managed to put out the fire, and specialist fire investigators were shortly later called to the scene to inspect the damage and determine the cause. The fire service said it had been working alongside police and the council to deal with the situation.
Claire Tates, Station Manager for Humberside Fire & Rescue, said crews were called to the fire involving some outbuildings which then spread to a property.
"We have had four fire engines here and we've also had the drone in attendance to check the rooftops for any fire spread," she said.
"We've now got fire investigation officers here who are on the scene with the police and are working also in collaboration with the council to resolve this incident."
Around 40 residents came out of their houses to see what was going on. Nicki O'Riley said she thought the area would have to be sealed off for several hours for an investigation to take place.
