A loud banging noise alerted a woman to the presence of a drug-fuelled teenager armed with a machete on her conservatory roof. The shocking incident occurred at around 8:30 am on September 2, 2024, at the woman’s home in Kirkby, Merseyside.
The victim, a grandmother whose identity has not been revealed, was lying in bed when she heard the sound of glass shattering. Upon opening her blinds, she discovered a teenager kneeling on the roof of her conservatory, just below her, holding a machete. The grandmother initially panicked and shouted at the teenager to leave. Prosecutor Henry Rider told Liverpool Crown Court that she attempted to defend herself by hitting him with a picture frame.
