Over three years since the last major update, Terraria 1.4.5 finally has a release date, and we'll be able to dive in in under two weeks' time.
To be exact, Terraria's 1.4.5 patch will be rolling out on January 27. "As we mentioned in last month's State of the Game, things were looking up for a January 2026 release," Re-Logic's Ted "Loki" Murphy says in the announcement. "We did have to resubmit a few things, which pushed us back a bit further than expected."
The devs "have a few more things to get done between now and then (a couple of approvals still pending as well)," but fans are being instructed to "start the countdown." It's been a long time coming – 1.4.5 was first announced in late 2022, at which point it was planned to release at some point in 2023. Better late than never.
But is this going to be Terraria's final update? Well, Re-Logic would have had us believe that the last five updates before 1.4.5 were each, respectively, the final one, so it feels like we're long past the devs saying anything definitive at this point. After all, lead developer Andrew 'Redigit' Spinks previously said that "Terraria will never die as long as there is one last final update."
As for what we can expect in 1.4.5, there'll be a neat RC car you can use to zoom around your Terraria worlds, Dead Cells and Palworld crossover content, new whips, slime variants, and much more. Despite their game turning 15 years old this year, the devs have no shortage of ideas when it comes to things to add – that's one of the reasons why the upcoming update kept getting delayed.
