TenZ reportedly ‘likely’ to rejoin Sentinels for VCT Americas 2026

Tyson “TenZ” Ngo could be on his way back to Sentinels for the 2026 VCT Americas season, but the move is still in Riot Games’ hands, according to a report.

Akamaru on X has claimed that TenZ is “likely” to rejoin the team, with both sides said to be on the same page about a reunion, but league approval is pending.

Sentinels entered VCT Americas Kickoff with a reworked lineup, only to get eliminated early and trigger another round of changes. Following the poor start, the org cut ties with in-game leader Kyu, duelist N4rrate, and head coach Kaplan, despite Kaplan previously helping guide the team to a VALORANT Masters title.

CEO Rob Moore later addressed fans and laid out a new direction for 2026. Former IGL JohnQT, who led the roster through 2024 and 2025, will reclaim calling duties and bring back a more familiar structure.

Ewok steps in as head coach, and TenZ is back in scrims

On the coaching side, Sentinels have turned to former RRQ boss Marthinus “Ewok” van der Walt as their new head coach.

Ewok, who earned praise for leading RRQ to an APAC Stage 1 title and a Champions Paris appearance, has been described as a coach who builds strong systems and long-term improvement.

While the rebuild continued behind the scenes, TenZ quietly moved back into the server with Sentinels in scrims. He joined the team in practice games during their ongoing trial process, slotting into an aggressive role that looked similar to his old position on the roster.

Those scrims appear to have gone well enough that Sentinels are now pushing for a full reunion, with TenZ emerging as the preferred option for their final starting spot.

Akamaru notes that the team has been testing several players for that last role, including Infiltrator, Zaj, Smoke, and Jerrwin, but TenZ stands out, thanks to his history with the org and his playstyle fitting with the current meta.

He is also strong on other Agents like Yoru and Omen, offering both explosive entry potential and flexibility in more supportive or smoke-heavy setups if needed.

Riot’s approval is the final obstacle

Even with mutual interest from Sentinels and TenZ, nothing is locked in yet. According to Akamaru’s report, Riot still needs to approve the move due to potential conflicts between TenZ’s existing sponsorships and the league’s rules and commercial interests. Until that gets decided, the reunion remains in limbo.

If Riot ultimately says no, Sentinels are expected to pivot to one of their other trial players, with Jerrwin currently viewed as the most likely fallback option for the final slot.

What’s next for Sentinels and TenZ

For many fans, TenZ has never really stopped being the face of Sentinels and, in some ways, of VALORANT itself. He retired from professional play to focus on creating content, but his brief return in scrims and the latest reports have reignited hype around a possible full competitive comeback.

With Ewok now officially installed as head coach and the team continuing to refine its roster, all eyes are on whether Riot greenlights TenZ’s return in time for VCT Americas 2026.

If the move goes through, it could instantly become one of the biggest storylines of the season, drawing in not only long-time fans but also new viewers, and even the growing audience following VALORANT through esports betting platforms.
