Tension in Doddaballapur as Sri Rama Sene members seize vehicles alleging beef transport

Tension prevailed in Doddaballapur town near Bengaluru for some time after members of the Sri Rama Sene seized seven vehicles alleging that they were smuggling beef and later set fire to one of the vehicles on Sunday morning.

The members intercepted the vehicles coming from Hindupur to Bengaluru at the toll gate. They then set fire to one of the vehicles when the occupants tried to resist the protesters.

The police, along with Fire and Emergency Services personnel, rushed to the spot, doused the blaze and brought the situation under control.

The Doddaballpura Town police have arrested 16 people belonging to the Hindutva outfit for allegedly assaulting one of the transporters and setting fire to the vehicle. The police have seized the vehicle the accused used and 19 mobile phones, including five phones which they had allegedly robbed from the group after attacking them.

The police have also arrested six people for allegedly transporting beef illegally from Hindupur, Andhra Pradesh.

The police have also booked a case against a group for recording the video of the vehicle burning and uploading it on social media.
