The rate of girls and women in Australia being hospitalised for endometriosis has increased by almost a quarter in the past decade, with more than 70 per cent of procedures occurring in private hospitals.

There were about 24,700 hospitalisations for endometriosis in 2024 to 2025, a 23 per cent increase from 2015 to 2016, according to new data released on Friday by the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW).
