Ten picture-perfect Georgian homes for sale in London — from classical townhouses to character cottages

Call it the Bridgerton effect or just good taste — Georgian architecture has plenty of fans and precious few detractors.

These 17th and early 18th century homes tend to command a premium over their newer Victorian neighbours, thanks to typically grander proportions and relative rarity.

Though you’ll find clusters of townhouses in conservation areas and central garden squares, London’s distribution is a far cry from the homogeny of Edinburgh’s New Town or chocolate box Bath.

Symmetry, flat façades and shorter sash windows on upper floors are the tell-tale signifiers, but the odd bay window might throw you — and it gets especially fuzzy in the 1830s, on the Victorian Georgian ‘cusp’.

We’ve hand-picked ten of the best Georgian homes on the market now, from detached family homes to beautifully decorated apartments in Bloomsbury and beyond.

De Beauvoir Town, N1

£725,000

Southgate Road, N1 (Savills)

This well-maintained maisonette occupies the top two floors of a Georgian townhouse on the well-heeled Hackney Islington border. Offered chain-free, it has two double bedrooms, a utility space and its own entrance. Dalston Junction overground is a few minutes away.

Savills, 020 7354 6713

Bloomsbury, WC1

£535,000

Burton Street, WC1 (Inigo)

A compact but stylish one-bedroom flat on the second floor of a Grade II-listed Georgian conversion designed by master planner James Burton. The owners have smartly leaned into its classical details, installing a sympathetic bespoke Shaker kitchen with butler sink.

Inigo, 020 3687 3071

New Cross, SE14

£575,000

Kender Street, SE14 (Winkworth)

Well-placed for the shops and resturants of both New Cross and Peckham, this spacious flat is split over top two floors of a listed townhouse on leafy Kender Street. It offers two bedrooms, access to a large decked garden and swift passage to the overground.

Winkworth, 020 7277 7298

Crystal Palace, SE19

£774,950

Spring Grove, SE14 (Agreed)

This two bedroom Georgian cottage is tucked away on a quiet no-through road moments from the Crystal Palace Triangle, with the park and station similarly close. Its well-proportioned rooms are split over three levels, and there’s a mature garden to the rear.

Agreed, 0121 387 6660

Southgate, N14

£650,000

The Green, N14 (Statons)

A chain-free two-bedroom terrace house in a surprisingly village-like location, fronting onto Southgate’s historic green. Grade II-listed, it has large open plan reception, courtyard garden and a private garage as well as further off-street parking.

Statons, 020 8440 9797

Marylebone, NW1

£800,000

Dorset Square, NW1 (Dexters)

A bright one-bedroom apartment sited on a pretty garden square once home to Lord’s Old Ground, which was founded in 1787. Just north of Marylebone Road, this is a serene spot that offers swift access to Baker Street tube and Regent’s Park.

Dexters, 020 7590 9570

Sydenham, SE26

£750,000

Halifax Street, SE26 (Property World)
