There has been a shooting at a supermarket in Buffalo, New York that has reportedly killed at least ten people.
According to the Associated Press, full details on the number of other people that have been shot and injured and their condition has not yet been confirmed.
The incident occurred at a Tops Friendly Market, and according to Buffalo police, the alleged shooter is in custody.
It is understood that the gunman entered the supermarket with a rifle and opened fire, one of the police officials told Associated Press.
Investigators also believe the man responsible for the attack could have been live-streaming the shooting.
The motive is not yet known, and police are investigating all lines of inquiry including whether or not it was racially motivated.
The gunman was reportedly wearing military-style clothing and body armour when he entered the store according to two witnesses.
Braedyn Kephart and Shane Hill, both 20, pulled into the car park just as the shooter was exiting.
They told the Associated Press that he was a white male in his late teens or early twenties and was wearing full camouflage gear, a black helmet and holding what appeared to be a rifle.
“He was standing there with the gun to his chin. We were like, what the heck is going on? Why does this kid have a gun to his face?” Mr. Kephart said.
“He dropped to his knees.
“He ripped off his helmet, dropped his gun, and was tackled by the police.”
Police closed off the area and yellow police tape surrounds the car park.
In the aftermath of the horrific incident, Governor Kathy Hochul tweeted: “I am closely monitoring the shooting at a grocery store in Buffalo.
