Ten Israeli soldiers were tragically killed in southern Lebanon between Thursday and Friday, as reported by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). The IDF confirmed that five soldiers lost their lives on Thursday, with another five succumbing to the conflict on Friday.
Israel initiated a ground operation in southern Lebanon on October 1, citing its mission to eradicate the Iran-backed Hezbollah group.
Regarding soldier casualties, the Israeli defense ministry disclosed that a total of 890 Israeli soldiers and security personnel have perished since October 7. It remains uncertain whether the five soldiers reported deceased on Friday are included in this figure.
On the Lebanese side, the toll is devastating, with over 2,500 individuals reported dead and more than 12,000 wounded, according to the Lebanese ministry of health. Distressingly, numerous casualties are civilians, encompassing women, children, the elderly, and a significant number of medical professionals.
The repercussions of the conflict are profound, with approximately 1.2 million Lebanese displaced due to the ongoing war. Simultaneously, around 63,500 Israelis have been displaced in northern Israel, situated on the opposite side of the border.
