There are many cats in Merseyside currently up for adoption.
Rescue charities across the region are looking for households willing to open their homes, and their hearts, to a feline friend. With many cats currently up for adoption, some are sadly, not being looked at twice.
From abandoned pets that were saved by the public to strays found on the streets, here, we have put together a list of 10 cats that are up for adoption in Merseyside, and where to find them - from the RSPCA to Freshfields in Sefton.

At the RSPCA you will find:
Carlos
Carlos is a four-year-old black and white cat that came to the rescue as a stray with a big sore on his face. Worried and scared, Carlos needs a quiet home, possibly with another cat.
Fluffy
Fluffy is a shy, black cat around four years old who came to the rescue after his owner went into hospital. Described as an affectionate cat, he loves to headbutt and give kisses for attention.
Arnie
Arnie, a 15-year-old black and white cat, was found as a stray with badly matted fur. He is looking for a calmer household but can be rehomed with a friendly dog or cat.
Sawyer
Sawyer was abandoned in a house by his owner and the public rallied together to keep him fed and watered until he was saved. With a love of chicken, Sawyer is looking for a quiet home with someone who can dedicate time to help him come out of his shell.
Chiara
Chiara is aged between three to six months and "loves a cuddle and a fuss". Described as a "very active playful baby", she is looking for a home with another cat ideally.
The full list of cats up for adoption can be found via the RSPCA website here.
Over at Freshfields you will find:
Sora
Sora was likely mistreated before coming to the rescue and would often wince and cower in fear. But now out of her shell she loves attention, cuddles and Dreamies. The two-year-old girl is tabby and white and her ideal home would be one which is calm and relaxed, and she would be fine with sensible, older children.
Alana
Alana is eight-years-old and a beautiful black and white cat. Originally at the rescue in 2020, she had a loving home for three years until her owner died. Alana will let you know when she needs some space with a small nip or a quick bap of her paws. She would be better suited to a home with older children.
Lucky
This handsome 12-year-old gentleman came to Freshfields after his owner was no longer able to care for him after falling ill. Lucky has FIV, an often-misunderstood condition. Cats with FIV can live very normal, healthy lives for many years.
However, he would need to be rehomed as an indoor cat or have the benefit of some outside space such as a ‘catio’. Lucky is a very mild-mannered gentleman who we feel would be a great addition to any cat friendly household.
Molly and Pandora
Molly and Pandora came as a bonded pair and would ideally be rehomed together. Molly is a 17-year-old Calico cat, who prefers a quieter life now in her old age. She is a gentle, affectionate lady and likes to have a sleep in a warm and comfy bed. She is on a diet which helps care for her kidneys, and it’s very easy to manage.
Pandora is the "undisputed Queen of the Manor" and is 19-years old- with striking black and white markings. Pandora has a thyroid condition, which is quite common in cats her age. It’s easily managed with one tablet a day and is on a kidney-care diet too.
