Telugu youth adopts automation, takes farming to next level

AMARAVATI: A young US-returned robotic engineer is making waves with his experiments in agriculture. The success of K Dheeraj Kumar of Narayanpur village in Jangoan district of neighbouring Telangana has made many farmers in AP to visit his agricultural field to study the innovative procedures adopted by him.

Dheeraj has also floated an export firm to make more revenue from the farm products. A variety of crops such as red chillies, turmeric, onions and muskmelon are cultivated in the 30-acre farm. He started tying up with neighbouring farmers and buying back their produce by offering decent prices. “Our goal is to export the produce to various countries. Last year the focus was on red chillies, which is cultivated in about 12 acres exclusively for export. This year we have cultivated muskmelon (Kohinoor variety growing round the year) which are the sweetest of all muskmelon varieties,” Dheeraj told TOI.
