Teens rushed to hospital after being 'hit by car' on busy Clydebank road

Two teenagers have been rushed to hospital after they were 'hit by a car' in Clydebank.

The alarm was raised shortly after 5pm on Wednesday, November 16 when officers were alerted to two 16-year-old pedestrians having been 'struck' by a vehicle on Kilbowie Road, near Clydebank Shopping Centre.

Emergency services, including Police Scotland and Scottish Ambulance Service, swooped on the scene and the victims, a male and female, were taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow to receive treatment.

Their current conditions are not yet known. Footage taken at the crash site, which was shared on social media, shows the aftermath of the collision, with at least five blue-lit cop cars and ambulances swarming the busy road.

Traffic has been stopped in its tracks and uniformed officers can be seen patrolling the area, which is locked down while investigations take place. A bus appears to attempt to reverse up ahead, its intended route now a no-go.

Worried onlookers watch the event unfold behind railings, and a police van can be seen parked stationary at the main traffic lights to prevent drivers from passing through. The road has since reopened to motorists.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Officers became aware of a collision between a car and two pedestrians on Kilbowie Road in Clydebank shortly after 5.05pm on Wednesday, November 16.

"The two pedestrians – a male and female, both aged 16 – have been taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and the road has since reopened."
