A coastguard team located in Cork, who were out on an evening exercise in the harbour on Wednesday evening, underwent a real-life rescue after three young men got into difficulties at the bottom of a cliff.
Thankfully, the Crosshaven Coast Guard crew were in the vicinity of Camden Fort when an alert came through that three young males had become trapped on the rocks near the fort due to the incoming tide.
The rescue crew swung into action at around 9pm. One of the young men was badly injured and suffering from the effects of hypothermia.

A spokesperson for Crosshaven Coast Guard told CorkBeo: "While on exercise this evening around 9pm, the unit was tasked to three young males near Camden who had been cut off by the tide on the rocks."
"Unfortunately one of the males suffered a fall and severely hurt his leg and was severely cold from entering the water.
“The area was quite difficult to access but after a brief with the crew we safely extracted the casualties."
The young man who had an injured leg was subsequently rushed to hospital by the National Ambulance Service (NAS) for assessment by doctors.
As people begin to head to beaches and coastlines for some water as the summer approaches, the Crosshaven Coast Guard, along with other units along the Irish coastline, expect to be busy.
In anticipation of this over the next few months, they have asked the public to take basic safety precautions when on the coast, and good advice on that can be found here.
The public is also being reminded - if you see someone in trouble or think they may be in trouble on or near our coasts or inland waterways dial 112/999 and ask for the Irish Coast Guard - it could save a life.
