Teenager taken to hospital after alleged robbery in Caldicot town centre

A 19-year-old man was taken to hospital after an alleged robbery outside a shop in Caldicot. Gwent Police is investigating a report of a robbery outside the One Stop shop in Caldicot town centre at around 12.30am on Sunday August 21.

The teenage victim was reportedly assaulted by a man and had his mobile phone taken. He was taken to hospital by paramedics for treatment.

Officers have arrested a 17-year-old boy and an 18-year-old man from the Caldicot area on suspicion of robbery. Both have been released under investigation and inquiries are ongoing. Gwent Police is appealing to anyone with information, including CCTV or dashcam footage, and anyone who was in Newport Road in Caldicot town centre between 12.20am and 1am on Sunday, August 21, to contact the force.

A statement from Gwent Police read: "We’re investigating a report of a robbery outside the One Stop shop in Caldicot town centre at around 12.30am on Sunday, August 21. A 19-year-old man was reportedly assaulted by man and his mobile phone taken.

"The victim was taken to hospital by paramedics for treatment. Officers arrested a 17-year-old boy and an 18-year-old man from the Caldicot area on suspicion of robbery. Both were later released under investigation as inquiries continue.

"We’re appealing for anyone with information, including CCTV or dashcam footage, and anyone who was in Newport Road in Caldicot town centre between 12.20am and 1am on Sunday, August 21, to get in touch with us.
