Teenager died after falling 1,300ft during Snowdonia walk with dad

A teenager died after falling more than 1,300ft during a walk in Snowdonia, an inquest heard. Christopher Jack Wilson, 18, was climbing Crib-y-Ddysgl, beside Snowdon, with his dad on July 26 when he fell.

The pair, from Brixham in Devon, were just over a quarter of the way up Crib-y-Ddysgl when the incident occurred at around 3pm. North Wales Police officers along with mountain rescue volunteers and the air ambulance were called but sadly Christopher could not be saved and was pronounced dead at the scene, North Wales Live reports.

The inquest into his death was formally opened in Caernarfon today. It heard how, following a post-mortem examination, a provisional cause of death was given as "multiple injuries including fractured cervical vertebrae". Assistant senior coroner, Sarah Riley, adjourned the inquest pending a full investigation.
