A person has been charged after a vehicle theft and police pursuit in Newcastle.
The arrest came on Saturday after the theft of the vehicle from an Islington home late last month.
Police allegedly signalled for the vehicle to stop at Hamilton South in the early hours of March 29, but the driver failed to do so and a chase took place.
The pursuit was terminated for safety reasons.
The vehicle was dumped and the driver was seen allegedly fleeing on foot.
Police arrested the person at a Mayfield address on Saturday.
The 18-year-old was charged with five offences including stealing a vehicle, break and enter and traffic charges.
Police said the teenager was serving a Community Corrections Order for other offences at the time of the incident.
