A teenager has been charged with murder over the death of a 27-year-old woman after his extradition from the United Arab Emirates to the UK.

The charge relates to the stabbing of Kamonnan Thiamphanit, which took place at a property in Bayswater, west London, on 6 April 2024.

Thiamphanit, who was also known as Angela, was found by police at her home address in Stanhope Place at about 8.30am. She was located with multiple stab wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Metropolitan police said it successfully extradited Enzo Bettamio, 18, of no fixed address, on a flight from Dubai to the UK on Friday after joint inquiries by the force and specialist lawyers in the Crown Prosecution Service’s extradition and international units.

Bettamio was formally charged with Thiamphanit’s murder on Saturday and appeared at Westminster magistrates court.

He spoke only to confirm his name and date of birth and was remanded into custody to appear at the Old Bailey on Tuesday. No plea was entered.

Thiamphanit’s family are aware of the update and continue to be supported by specialist officers, the force added.

DCI Alison Foxwell, who is leading the investigation, said: “I would also like to express my sincere thanks to Angela’s family and friends for their patience and unwavering support to the investigation, throughout what has been an incredibly difficult and distressing time for them.”

Thiamphanit, who had dual Chinese-Hong Kong and Thai nationality and worked in property management, had been living in the UK for about nine years.
