A teenager caught looking after a cannabis farm has been spared prison.
Police went to a small cottage on Tintern Street, Sunderland, in May this year. No one answered the door but Enkel Beqiri was seen climbing out of the bathroom window at the rear of the property.
Michael Bunch, prosecuting, told Newcastle Crown Court: "When officers gained entry to the house they could see it had cannabis growing in the bedroom and living room. The usual equipment was present to enhance the quality of the grow.

"The electricity supply had been bypassed. An ID card relating to the defendant was found inside the address."
The court heard there were around 50 plants, which could have produced around 2.5 kilos of cannabis. Beqiri was not living there and the court heard there were others involved.
The 18-year-old, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to being concerned in the production of cannabis and was given a 12 month community order with 100 hours unpaid work.
Judge Christopher Prince said: "Beyond the involvement with drugs you pose no risk to the public."
