Detectives have launched an investigation after a teenager was assaulted at an Ayrshire beach yesterday.
The 16-year-old boy was rushed to hospital following the attack at Irvine beach near the Coastwatch building at around 4.05pm.
The youngster was released from hospital after receiving treatment, officials confirmed today.
Police are now gathering information following the assault.
Detective constable Lee Duncan said: “Our enquiries are ongoing and we are appealing for anyone who witnessed the assault to get in touch.
“Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting incident 2596 of June 10.”
