Teenager charged after bomb squad detonate 'suspicious item' in Scottish city

A TEENAGER has been arrested and charged after a "suspicious item" was discovered in a Scottish city.

Local residents were evacuated from their homes in Perth following reports of a suspicious item within a premises in Fairmount Terrance at around 6.45pm on Thursday.

An explosive ordinance disposal (EOD) unit was deployed to the scene. A controlled explosion was carried out on Friday morning.

Police Scotland attended the incident, erecting a cordon that will be in place while investigations continue.

A 17-year-old male has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident, there have been no reported injuries.

The public has been advised to avoid the area, and a police presence will remain on the scene while the cordon is in place.
