Teenager, 18, charged with attempted murder after stabbing on Victoria Line train

An 18-year-old has been charged with attempted murder over the stabbing of a teenager on a Victoria Line train in south London.

Police were called out on Wednesday just before 3pm to reports of a stabbing on a packed Tube train, finding a 16-year-old boy suffering from potentially life-changing injuries.

On Friday morning, Amarjay Camron Nkemayang, 18, was charged with attempted murder and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.

It is said he had a hunting knife with him during the incident, which happened at Stockwell Station.

Nkemayang, from Stockwell, has been held in police custody since the stabbing and was due to appear at Westminster magistrates court to face the first time today.

In the aftermath of the incident, British Transport Police said an 18-year-old was treated for minor injuries and then discharged into police custody.

The 16-year-old was taken to hospital for treatment to two puncture wounds, the police said.

“This was a particularly violent incident on a busy Tube service that has resulted in a man sustaining serious injuries”, said Detective inspector Paul Attwell.

“We are keen to speak to anyone who was on-board the Tube at the time or at Stockwell Underground station as they may have information that could greatly assist our investigation.”
