The recent shooting incident in Times Square involving a teenage migrant from Venezuela has once again brought attention to the ongoing migrant crisis in the United States. The 15-year-old suspect was seen in a New York City criminal courtroom today, facing a long list of serious charges.
The defendant, identified as Jesus Alejandro Rivas Figueroa, is accused of attempted murder, assault, attempted assault, and weapons possession. The incident occurred when Figueroa was caught shoplifting from a store in Times Square. When confronted by a security guard, he allegedly pulled out a handgun and attempted to shoot the guard. However, he missed his target and instead hit a nearby tourist. As police attempted to apprehend him, Figueroa fired shots at them but did not receive any return fire.
