Teenage girl tragically dies of cancer after waiting year to see GP, leaving family outraged

The devastated family of a young girl, who found out that she had terminal cancer just mere weeks before she tragically died, had waited over a year for a GP appointment.

Amelia Ellerby, 19, had pleaded with medics to take her concerns seriously after she found a lump on her lower back in February 2021. However, despite the concerns, her aunt Claire Hanshaw, 37, said that doctors only prescribed her antibiotics.

Amelia had called the local practice every six weeks with calls of distress. Her aunt said that Amelia became became so worried that she called an ambulance, only to be told she would be "wasting her time" if she went to the hospital, Yorkshire Live reports.
