An 18-year-old has been taken to hospital after being hit by a car in Dunston.
Emergency services were called to Colliery Road (A1114) in Dunston at around 7:30am on Wednesday following reports of a collision. A number of police cars were dispatched to the scene with a section of the road near the Tudor Rose pub taped off.
The teenager involved was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary where her injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Colliery Road has been closed off by police while police conduct investigations and for the recovery of the vehicle involved.
A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: "At 7.30am today, we received a report of a collision between a pedestrian and a vehicle on Colliery Road, Dunston.
"Emergency services attended and the 18-year-old female pedestrian has been taken to hospital for treatment on injuries not thought to be life-threatening. A section of the road has been closed to allow for recovery of the vehicle involved to take place."
A statement from the North East Ambulance Service read: "We were called at 7.23am this morning to a road traffic collision involving a car and a pedestrian. We dispatched a specialist paramedic and a double crewed ambulance and one patient was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary."
