A fitness influencer has been shot dead in her ex-boyfriend’s car before he allegedly turned the gun on himself.
Micaelly Lara was reportedly killed by her ex-partner David Aparecido da Silva, on the afternoon of May 15.
The influencer built up a large number of followers by sharing clips of her dancing or in the gym and with a sense of humour. She had over a million fans across social media with 650,000 followers on TikTok and 100,000 on Instagram.
Friends of the 19-year-old have reportedly said she started a new relationship with a man named Vinny Pollo after recently splitting with Da Silva, 30.
But the suspect allegedly refused to accept that their relationship had ended.
CCTV images recorded the influencer’s final moments, with footage showing her entering the suspect’s car outside her home in Hortolândia, near São Paulo, Brazil.
Then some 20 minutes later, Da Silva allegedly shot her dead.
A building manager said the gunshots were mistaken for a motorcycle passing along the street at the same time but he was surprised to see the parked car with its engine still running several hours later and called the police.
Micaelly and Da Silva were both found dead inside the vehicle later that evening.
He had a gun in his hand and the police believe he shot his ex-girlfriend in the head before repeating the act on himself.
José Regino, head of the Women's Defence Police Station, in Hortolândia, said the victim got into the suspect’s car at about 1.10pm. He is believed to have fired the shots at around 1.30pm.
Vinny said on social media: “I hope she's in a good place, it's the place it has to be for her. She was an incredible person, thoughtful, liked to help others, and had many dreams.
“I told her ‘this guy is a psychopath, this guy’s crazy, if I were you I’d leave, go to the coast, I don’t know, stay away for a while because this guy wants to do something bad to you’.”
There was also a report of police being called previously after an argument between the pair on April 20 at a beach in Guaruja. On that occasion, a mobile phone was broken, the suspect was allegedly found with drugs by police, and there was an argument between Da Silva and officers.
Micaelly was buried at the Parque Hortolândia Cemetery on May 17 and police are currently investigating the deaths as femicide followed by suicide.
