Teenage boy rushed to hospital after being shot in the face with pellet gun in Tallaght, Dublin

A young man was rushed to hospital on Tuesday after he was struck by a bullet from a pellet gun.

The boy, believed to be aged in his mid-teens, was standing outside a shop in the Bawnlea area of Tallaght in Dublin at around 5pm when the incident happened.

He received injuries to his face after the pellet gun attack.

Gardai and emergency services rushed to the scene and the teen was taken to Crumlin Hospital for treatment.

He is currently undergoing treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.

Gardai have launched an investigation and say their enquiries are ongoing.

A garda spokesperson said: "Gardai are investigating an incident at a shop in the Bawnlea area of Tallaght, Dublin 24, at approximately 5pm [yesterday] evening, Tuesday 25th January, 2022.

"A male juvenile teen received facial injuries (not life threatening) and was taken to Crumlin Hospital for treatment.

"Enquiries are ongoing."
