A 16-year-old boy died after entering the water at a quarry.
Lancashire Police and Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service were called by the Ambulance Service at around 9.40pm on Saturday (July 9) to a report that a boy had got into difficulty in the water at Dawber Delph in Appley Bridge, West Lancashire. Following a search, the body of a 16-year-old boy was recovered from the water.
He was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed.

A spokesperson for Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service said: "We were called at 9.36pm on the July 9, 2022, to Dawber Delph, Appley Bridge to assist Lancashire Police and North West Ambulance Service in the search for one person in the water. Three fire engines, a boat and the drone team were deployed.
"Tragically the casualty died at the scene. Our thoughts are with their loved ones."
Skelmersdale Police shared the news on Facebook and were met with many responses as people shared their condolences. Amanda Walker said: "How sad, so heartbreaking, while Lorraine Simpson said: "Thoughts with his family and friends".
Mandy Marsh said: "Heartbreaking. Thoughts are with the young man's family", while Debbie Jenkinson added: "This is just so awful and sad. Deepest sympathy to his family"
