Teenage boy dies after electric shock in Gladstone, central Queensland

A 15 year-old boy has died in central Queensland after he came into contact with live electrical wires and fell.

Paramedics were called to West Gladstone at midday to reports of an electric shock.

A Queensland Police Service spokesperson said the incident happened under the train bridge at McAndrew Drive in Clinton.

The spokesperson said early information suggested it was not suspicious and a report would be prepared for the Coroner.

Aurizon, which operates that section of the rail networks, said its employees were helping emergency services at the Central Queensland Coal Network site.

"We extend our condolences to the family of the young man who has lost his life," a spokesperson said.

"This is a tragic incident that will be felt deeply by the local community.

"We are providing support to the Aurizon employees who attended the site to assist emergency services."

The Electrical Safety Office said it had also been notified and it would continue to make further enquiries.
