A teenager who thought "she couldn't do anything" has been crowned Miss Merseyside.

Paige Cannon James, from West Derby, is now heading to the Miss England finals. The 18-year-old also won a semi-final award for the brightest smile.

The model, who ran the runway for London Fashion Week recently, said she enters the beauty competitions to "feel good about herself". Paige, who has dyslexia, said in the past she felt like "she couldn't do anything", but this changed when she started entering the pageants.
