A teenager who has been left blind in one eye following an alleged attack in Ballyfermot last year has shared details on her injury and what further surgery she faces.
Alanna Quinn Idris, 18, was left a broken cheekbone, ruptured eyeball and shattered tooth following the incident on December 30, 2021. Taking to TikTok to share details one year on she shared a positive message and revealed why she doesn't like to wear a prosthesis.
She had previously said that she has found love with a pal who was with her on the night of the alleged attack. Alanna has had four operations and will undergo more surgery in the near future.

She said: "It is also the one year anniversary of when I was attacked and made blind. This video isn't to be all woe is me and be sad and all, because at the end of the day I'm here in my own bed.
"Last year I was in a hospital bed for New Year's. Now I've been meaning to make a video like this for some time because I wanted to come on and talk about my little prosthesis kind of thing that I have for [my eye] which I will show you in a minute.
"So this is my scleral shell. The reason it is called that is because it is literally a shell that I put over my eye. A lot of people think that I don't have an eye. I still do, it's just that it's not the same size as this one. When you get hit, your eye shrinks.
"So you can see I don't have the same amount of volume here. Now me personally, I'm very particular and I'm very picky and I'm not too fond on having this [shell] in my face because I would much rather have my old face.
She continued: "As well, I do need to get more surgery in my face just to fill out some areas because there was a good bit of damage done at the time. I don't really want to go into it because this isn't a video for that. But yeah, basically I need more surgery and I hate this [shell].
"I just wanted to come on to show you how it looks. I mean, I hate it, but it's not the worst thing in the world. But it is my face and I get to pick when I put things in it."
She then showed how the eye looks with the scleral shell inside it. Alanna continued: "So this is what it looks like. As you can see it kind of drifts off to the side a little bit more than it should. That's what the surgery will be for."
Two young men have been sent forward for trial in connection with the alleged attack on Alanna and her pal in Ballyfermot on December 30, 2021.
