The funeral arrangements have been announced for the young man who died in an electric bike accident in Tallaght last week.
Tributes have poured in for 18-year-old Sean Murphy, who has been described by friends as "cheerful", "kind", and a "lovely lad". The tragic incident happened at Mac Uilliam Heights in Fortunestown Lane, Tallaght, on Wednesday when Sean crashed into a pillar.
Emergency services immediately rushed to the scene, and Sean was taken to Tallaght University Hospital where he sadly died. Gardai said no other vehicles were involved in the incident.
The 18-year-old's death notice on RIP.ie reads: "Sean will be forever loved and very sadly missed by his adoring family, mam, brother Liam, grandparents Jean, Brendan and Aisley, aunties Chloe and Barbara, uncles Jack and Stephen, his heartbroken girlfriend Isobel and family, Margaret’s partner Craig, cousins, wide circle of friends and neighbours."
Sean will be reposing at his home on Tuesday from 3pm to 7pm, and his funeral mass is due to take place on Wednesday at St Aidan’s Church in Brookfield followed by burial in Newlands Cross. Sean's friends and family took to social media to express their sadness and pay tribute.
One person wrote: "Sean such a beautiful boy, so thoughtful cheerful and well mannered. You will be much missed." A second added: "A truly lovely lad. RIP Sean."
A third added: "RIP Sean, fly with the angels. You will be forever missed mate. Praying for his mammy and little brother and family."
Gardai carried out a technical examination of the scene during the week, and they have appealed for anyone who was in the vicinity who may have dashcam footage or camera footage to get in touch. A garda spokesman said: "Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.
"Anyone who was in the vicinity of Mac Uilliam Heights in Tallaght on Wednesday June 7 2023 between 10pm and 10.45pm and who may have camera footage (including mobile phone and dash-cam) is asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.
"Anyone with any information is asked to contact Tallaght Garda station on 01 666 6000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station."
