Human papillomavirus vaccination among American teenagers did not increase for the fourth year in a row, according to national survey data the CDC published this week, and the gap between rural and urban adolescents is the largest of any routine adolescent vaccine.
Among 13- to 17-year-olds last year, 77.7 percent had received at least one HPV dose and 63.4 percent were up to date with the series. Coverage with at least one dose of Tdap fell from 91.3 percent to 88.8 percent, and at least one dose of the meningococcal MenACWY vaccine fell from 90.1 percent to 89.0 percent. Both remained near 90 percent.
