Teen found guilty of attempted murder after shooting man and girl in street

A teenage boy has been found guilty of attempted murder after shooting a man and an innocent schoolgirl in the street.

Rio Jones opened fire on his "enemy" on Upper Warwick Street in Toxteth on the evening of March 1 in the midst of a feud between two rival gangs. One of his six shots hit the man in the wrist, while another struck a 15-year-old who was sat at a nearby bus stop in the neck.

The 19-year-old defendant, of Jermyn Street, was today unanimously convicted of attempted murder by a jury after two hours and 43 minutes of deliberations.

He was also found guilty of one count of inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent, having earlier admitted possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life, and will be sentenced on December 9.

Liverpool Central station closure cancelled as engineering works off

A three-day closure of Liverpool Central station has been cancelled.

The station was due to be closed from Sunday, November 6 to Wednesday, November 9, for work. This was to prepare for Merseyrail to launch their new fleet of trains.

However the planned engineering works have been postponed due to the three 24-hour national strikes recently announced by the RMT union.

Plans for a high-end sex shop set to open up in Liverpool City Centre have gathered support.

Scandals has applied for a licence to open up a new shop in the basement of the Bling Bling building in Hanover Street in central Liverpool.

The family-run business, fronted by married couple Catherine Kershaw and Ben Hughes alongside their family, has a mission to ensure people around the region are enjoying their sex lives.
