Teen driver ploughs dad's car into living room 'while taking child for a ride'

A teenage learner driver ploughed her dad’s car into a family’s living room while taking a child for a ride, a resident has claimed.

The driver - understood to be a 17-year-old girl - had borrowed her dad’s car on Friday evening and taken a girl, aged five to seven, for a spin.

The Toyota Verso was ploughed into the house in Bradford, West Yorkshire a short while later, injuring both the people onboard.

Neither of the girls are thought to be suffering from life threatening injuries.

A large emergency service response rushed to the scene with firefighters assessing the stability of the house before police organised the removal of the silver vehicle.

Police said: "Emergency services were called to a road traffic collision on Heights Lane, Heaton, Bradford, close to the junction with Haworth Road, shortly after 7:30pm last night.

"The incident involved a car which was in collision with a residential property.

"Two females were taken to hospital where their injuries are not thought to be life-threatening."

A resident has claimed that the girl was driving the car with just a provisional license.

The fire service added: "It was a request for us from the police after a car had gone through the bay window of a house.

"There was nobody trapped but there was a fuel leak.

"We sent the technical rescue unit from Cleckheaton and Fairweather Green was also in attendance.

"We assessed the stability of the house and then police organised recovery."
