Teen charged in connection with alleged rape of 14-year-old-girl in Arbroath

Police have arrested and charged a teen in connection with the alleged rape of a young girl in Arbroath.

Forensics officers have been conducting an investigation in the Angus town’s Meadowbank area since the start of the week.

A blue police tent has been erected in a car park of the Meadowbank Inn as part of the inquiry.

Officers have been focusing their efforts on an area of bins close to the restaurant and function suite close to the Montrose Road.

The 18-year-old was arrested after the alleged attack on a 14-year-old girl that was reported on Monday night.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said today: “An 18-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the serious sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl in the Meadowbank area of Arbroath which was reported to police around 9.40pm on Monday, 31 January, 2022.

“He is due to appear at Dundee Sheriff Court on Wednesday, 2 February.”
