A teenager has been arrested in connection with a serious assault in Edinburgh which left a man hospitalised.
The incident took place at Newkirkgate in the Leith area of the city at around 4.15pm on Monday, February, 21.
Witnesses said a man with ‘blood covering his shirt’ was being tended to outside the British Heart Foundation charity shop.
A 41-year-old victim was rushed to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment to his injuries.
A 17-year-old male was the arrested in connection with the assault but released pending further enquiries.
Enquiries into the case remain ongoing.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Police received a report of a 41-year-old man having been seriously assaulted at Newkirkgate in Edinburgh around 4.15pm on Monday, 21 February, 2022.
“The 41-year-old was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment.
“A 17-year-old male was arrested in connection with the assault and released pending further enquiries.
"Enquiries into the incident are ongoing.
“Anyone with information or who may have witnessed the incident is urged to contact 101, quoting incident 2241 of 21 February.”
