Ted Lasso star reveals Jason Sudeikis changed finale after she was killed off

  • Ted Lasso character Mae Green, the beloved pub landlady played by Annette Badland since season one, has been killed off in the ninth episode of the Apple TV series' fourth season.
  • Mae passed away after collapsing from excitement at a Lady Greyhounds away match against Bristol City, having travelled to the game on the team bus at the invitation of Ted Lasso.
  • Actress Annette Badland revealed she was initially devastated by her character's death, but creator Jason Sudeikis modified the tenth episode to ensure Mae maintains a spirit-like presence in the show.
  • Badland confirmed that Ted Lasso was originally conceived as a three-season story arc, making the decision to return for a fourth season an exciting risk for the cast and creators.
  • The fourth season focuses on Ted coaching Richmond FC's new second-division women's team, leading to the absence of several fan-favourite male players from previous seasons.
