Ted Lasso cast: Who will return in season 3 after release date hint?

Fans of hit Apple TV show Ted Lasso have become excited over new teaser images being released ahead of a third season being released.

While there has not been an exact date shared for when season three will release, Apple TV+ recently revealed when we can expect it to hit our screens. The company revealed the series would arrive in “Spring 2023” - so we can expect it to drop sometime in March, April or May.

Lasso, played by Jason Sudeikis, is an initially hapless American coach who joins the fictional AFC Richmond, with stadium scenes being filmed at Crystal Palace's Selhurst Park. Hired as their manager despite having no experience in football whatsoever - due to chairwoman Rebecca Welton wanting to take the club down to spite ex-husband and former chairman Rupert Mannion's love for the club - the players and fans soon warm to him for his bright personality.

After the first season premiered in 2020, a second season was released in July 2021, running through to October of the same year. Fans eagerly awaiting news of a third season. But who is set to remain in the series? Football.london takes a look at characters set to stay.

Of course, Lasso as the main character will remain. Having secured promotion back to the Premier League in season two, it is unknown if AFC Richmond will secure survival for the first time in the season. Hannah Waddingham will return in her role as Welton.

Meanwhile Nick Shelley - played by Nick Mohammed - is expected to be back having moved to join London rivals West Ham in season two, as seen in the teaser picture.

Elsewhere Brett Goldstein will be back to portray Roy Kent - based on the former Manchester United midfielder Roy Keane - despite his retirement. Welton will also remain in the series, alongside Lasso's cleverly-named assistant 'Coach Beard', young right-winger Sam Obisanya, Kent's partner and Richmond PR guru Keeley Jones, timid director Leslie Higgins, and controversial striker Jamie Tartt.

Richmond players Colin Hughes, Dani Rojas and Isaac McAdoo will also feature, alongside Adam Colborne who forms as one of a trio of hardcore Richmond fans.
