It has been a tumultuous week ever for President Joe Biden since he pardoned his son Hunter despite assuring on multiple occasions that he wouldn't do so. The President's decision received widespread criticism from both sides of the political spectrum, with Republicans condemning and taking shots at Biden while some Democrats expressed their disappointment as well.
One of the Republican figures that has been vocal about the situation is Texas Sen. Ted Cruz. For months, Cruz had been speculating about the odds of President Biden pardoning his son, Hunter Biden, before his presidential term comes to an end.
Cruz first suggested of the possibility in January of last year while talking in his podcast "Verdict with Ted Cruz," and in July he said the odds of it happening were at "100%."
Hunter Biden was convicted in June on three felony charges related to the purchase of a gun after being found guilty of lying on a mandatory purchasing form when he said he wasn't illegally using or addicted to drugs.
Concretely, he was charged with two felony counts of making a false statement related to the purchase of a firearm and a third count of illegally possessing a gun while being an unlawful user of drugs.
As for the tax evasion case, Biden was formally accused of engaging in a "four-year scheme to not pay at least $1.4 million in self-assessed federal taxes he owed for tax years 2016 through 2019."
Cruz says Hunter Biden's pardon is "infuriating"
While making an appearance at Newsmax's "The Record With Greta van Susteren" show on Dec. 2, Cruz slammed the President's decision to pardon his son and labelled it as "infuriating" and "utterly predictable."
The Texas Senator continued his rant by saying he predicted this would happen a year ago while talking on his "Verdict" podcast and took a few more jabs at the president's son, going as far as to alluding to him as a "crackhead."
"At the end of the day, the investigation of Hunter Biden was never about Hunter, it was always about Joe Biden and the Biden family corruption," Cruz said. "Hunter Biden has no marketable skills, what Hunter Biden did was sell favors from daddy and make millions and millions of dollars," he added.
Cruz then accused Hunter Biden of receiving millions of dollars "by corrupt oligarchs" around the world "because daddy was in the business of doing favors."
Cruz, who has been a senator for the state of Texas since 2013, has been one of the strongest critics of Biden and the case involving his son's wrongdoings.
On his podcast, Cruz has also claimed that the real reason for the pardon is to cover up corrupt business deals involving members of the Biden family.
"Hunter Biden is not some lonely crackhead who just sort of went astray," Cruz said on his podcast. "That's what Joe Biden and the entire White House has tried to paint him as. Hunter Biden's business was selling access to daddy. The real crook here is Joe Biden."
Cruz doubled down on his comments about Hunter Biden saying that "nobody pays a crack head money when he has no marketable services" and added that when President Biden entered his pardon, it was about "protecting his own rear end," Cruz said.
