MIRAMAR BEACH, Fla. — Calling it “the last, best hope” for federal college athletics legislation, U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz tells Sports Illustrated he will urge his colleagues to get on board with the Protect College Sports Act that he co-authored with Sen. Maria Cantwell.

“I am very, very glad we got here,” Cruz says. “There were a lot of days it didn’t look like we would. But this is absolutely critical for the future of college sports.”
